💍 Our Story: From Croatia Chat to "I Do"

Hello, friends and family! We are so excited to share how our adventure began and how it led us right here, to this moment.

How We Met 💌 Picture this: July 2023. We connected on an online dating app, but it was a shared love for exploration that truly sparked the conversation. Benjamin had mentioned his travels to Croatia in his profile, and since Elayne was planning a trip there that October, she immediately reached out! She was so impressed by his depth of knowledge about Croatia and travel in general—and he seemed like such a genuinely nice person—so she agreed to meet him. Our first date was at a wonderful Afghani restaurant in Hayward. We spent the evening laying the foundation for what would become our life together, discovering our mutual passion for travel and music.

The Adventure Continues 🌍 Since that first date, our life has been a whirlwind of stamps in our passports! We truly are just getting started, but we've already shared incredible memories traveling.

Our Home in the Bay ✨ In October 2024, we took the next big step and moved into our home. We currently reside in Oakland, California. We absolutely love it here! We are so happy to be immersed in the diversity and energy of the Bay Area, with everything we love close by—from the mountains of Tahoe for skiing to the beautiful beaches.

The Proposal 🌅 This past summer, during a trip to Bali, Indonesia, Benjamin made our biggest adventure yet official! After a beautiful, romantic dinner on the beach, he proposed while we were taking a walk on Sanur Beach. It was the most perfect moment, and the easiest "yes" of Elayne's life. We are so grateful for all the miles we’ve traveled and the steps we’ve taken that have brought us to this incredible time. Now, we can't wait to celebrate our next big adventure—marriage—with all of you!

Neg is Elayne's soul sister from The Gap, where they met in 2017! Even though she lives in Ventura now with her husband, Chas, & daughter, Mia, she's been the biggest cheerleader for us, & we are thrilled for her to be a part of our big day!

Elayne met her tried & true friend, Victoria, back in 2011, & since then, she has been Elayne's constant support through careers, new homes, & the arrival of her precious son, Teddy with her partner, also named, Ben. We are so grateful to have her standing with us!

Elayne met Gracie in early 2010 through the Startblocking program, where she brilliantly helped Elayne navigate the non-profit world and the Bay Area as they served as Regional Co-chair leads. Even when Gracie and her husband Kenny moved to the East Coast and had their beautiful twins Mya and Marshall, their strong connection never faltered, and now we are thrilled that the bridesmaid role has come full circle!

Dan is a clinical mental health therapist living near Chicago with his wife Jessica and pup Millie. Ben met Dan when visiting Goucher College, and they have been fast friends ever since, sharing countless adventures from Wisconsin to Napa Valley—We are honored to celebrate this special day with Dan!

Vichy Springs Resort, established in 1854, is a historic and unique hot springs resort and country Inn near Ukiah.&nbsp;The resort offers simple rustic accommodations at local "champagne" hot springs. The only naturally warm and carbonated "Vichy" mineral baths in North America, perfect for unwinding. Room rates include full use of the mineral baths, a hot soaking pool, an Olympic-size swimming pool (in season), and access to a&nbsp;700-acre private reserve&nbsp;for walking and hiking. Due to the distance from the wedding venue, shuttle service will not be provided to here on the wedding date.

Vichy Springs Resort and Inn

The closest major airport to Ukiah is the&nbsp;Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS), located in Santa Rosa, CA. STS is served by airlines like&nbsp;Alaska Airlines,&nbsp;American Airlines, and starting April 7, 2026,&nbsp;Southwest Airlines. The airport offers rental cars, and ground transportation options. It is a smaller, more relaxed alternative to the major Bay Area airports (SFO/OAK).&nbsp; The driving distance from&nbsp;the airport to&nbsp;Ukiah is approximately 55 miles or&nbsp;about 1 hour. We strongly recommend renting a car&nbsp;at the airport, as public transportation and ride-share options (Uber/Lyft) maybe limited within Mendocino County. For those who prefer an alternative, the Mendocino Transit Authority (MTA) runs a direct bus service (Route 65) twice daily between the airport and Ukiah's Pear Tree Center. Please check the&nbsp;STS Ground Transportation&nbsp;page or the&nbsp;Mendocino Transit Authority website for current schedules and fares.

For guests requiring a broader selection of flights,&nbsp;San Francisco International Airport (SFO)&nbsp;is the closest major international hub, located approximately&nbsp;128 miles&nbsp;from Ukiah. Guests should expect a driving time of&nbsp;2 hours and 15 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes&nbsp;without heavy traffic.&nbsp;Please be advised&nbsp;that travel times can significantly increase due to Bay Area congestion, particularly on weekends and during rush hour. The estimated driving time is typically&nbsp;2 hours and 10 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes&nbsp;without heavy traffic.&nbsp;OAK offers all major&nbsp;rental car companies, and&nbsp;a rental car is essential&nbsp;for your trip.

The drive from SMF to Yokayo Ranch takes about&nbsp;2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours&nbsp;depending on traffic and the route taken. As with all regional airports,&nbsp;securing a rental car is essential&nbsp;for your travel to Ukiah and throughout Mendocino County, as public transit and ride-share options are impractical or non-existent for this journey.

The Skunk Train

100 year old soaking tubs / pool and 700 acres of hiking, and great waterfall at the end of the trail. Soak in the naturally warm, mineral-rich springs or enjoy the walking trails. It’s a relaxing treat for the whole family. You can buy a two hour pass.Day use includes the use of the famous “champagne” Vichy Mineral Baths, Olympic size swimming pool (in season), Hot Pool and private 700 acres of walking and hiking trails. Picnic tables are available throughout the grounds for guests’ enjoyment.

Absolutely not to be missed. One of the most impressive redwood groves in California, with a small hike in, pack a picnic and explore. Hike through majestic old-growth redwoods, including some of the tallest trees in the world. It’s a short drive from Ukiah and well worth it. Unfortunately, the park doesn't allow dogs.

While we love all the little ones in our lives, we're limiting our guest list to adults (18 and older) to allow everyone to enjoy the festivities worry-free. The exception: Children who are immediate family members or actively participating in the wedding ceremony are warmly welcomed.

Childcare for Invited Young Guests

For families with children under 12 who are part of the wedding party or immediate family, we want to make sure everyone can enjoy the celebration comfortably. We will provide:- Professional childcare during the rehearsal dinner (Saturday, May 23)- Professional childcare during the wedding reception (Sunday, May 24) Please note: Childcare will only be available during the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. If you choose to bring your children to any of our other optional wedding events (Welcome Happy Hour, Ukiah Unwind Poolside Sip &amp; Lunch, or Goodbye Brunch), you will be responsible for supervising them during those activities.We will reach out to you closer to the wedding date with all the details and information you'll need.
